Debt... Population: Me

Yesterday was the biggest money spending day I think I've ever had. I started out by buying my plane ticket to Europe. I fly into London on August 16, from London to Amsterdam on August 19 and then travel down through France and Italy to Barcelona where I leave from on Sept 8. Eeeeeeeee!

And then I bought a car. Not just any car... I bought a Mazda3. It's beautiful. I love it. It was really expensive... Which is a little scary. But it's mine and I get to pick it up on Wednesday!

Car shopping as a girl is so funny. The salesmen get so flustered because they know that they should be addressing me (as the car buyer) when talking about the particulars about the car but end up talking to the space between me and my dad because they don't know who to talk to about what. Admittedly, I don't understand some "carspeak" but when they try and point out the the car has an illuminated vanity mirror and comes in 7 different colours to me and then start blabbing about horsepower and torque to my dad, it's quite amusing.

And filling out financing paperwork is fun too. Especially when I've only been working one month as a casual nurse with no set hours and (to top it all off!)I don't even know my work phone number! That was funny.

I work my first 12 hour night shift tonight. I haven't been able to sleep in past 11:00 am the past few days, even though I stayed up until 4 am yesterday... So tonight should be interesting. I have a whole can of instant coffee that I'm bringing with me and I'm going to try and make myself have a nap this afternoon so that I can top up my sleep hours...

And if anyone wants to go for a cruise in my new car on Wednesday or Thursday or anytime, let me know. We can watch the odometer change (it was at 6 km yesterday!)

Cheers!

P.S. Happy 53rd Birthday Mr. T!

Shite! That's fanTAStic, Amanda! I'm so excited for you. Do you sometimes go sit in the car just to breathe it all in?

I totally get the car-salesman thing... Like, dude, yeah, coloured vanities or whatever's great, and yeah, I KNOW I can keep lipstick in the cupholder (also.. CUPS, JERK!) but can we please understand that I can grasp how a V6 is better than a V4, and that Daddy/BF is not the only one who cares about how long the Powertrain warranty is?

I know! Let's teach a class about it: How to sell to your female customer. I'll make up some bullshit script in.. say, 9 days (or less!) and we'll be in the Carribean w/ the profits before anyone catches on.

Also, picnics/BBQs I am up for. Also ice-cream. Always ice-cream.

Well, I could very well end up sleeping in my car tomorrow, I'm so frickin excited! Eeeeeeeeeee!

I like this script idea... It could make millions! I went to one dealership and the guy started blabbing to my dad about horsepower and torque and powertrain and then he turns to me and says "It's got an M-P-3 player in it, do you know what that is?" and I said "No! I've never heard of M-P-3. What do they do?" and my dad cracked up. It was awesome.

Anyways, I have a wierd schedule these days with nights and what not but let me know if any plans for ice cream or BBQ's pop up. And I'm SO driving!

Hey! I realize how fantastically late this comment is, but I've just managed to read people's posts. Congratulations upon congratulations! That's so incredibly awesome...you're, like, an....adult. ewww.

hee hee. Just kidding. I'm so impressed- from all I've heard from my mom, nursing can be the hardest AND the most rewarding job in the entire world. So good luck, good job, and congratulations again!
(PS. I recognize that you're probably in Europe right now if this gets sent to your email, so I hope your trip is going fabulously!)
